Speech Assessments in Paddington, Chermside and the Gold Coast

Learn and Grow provide a comprehensive assessment of communication and/or feeding development. An accurate and thorough assessment allows our Speech Pathologists to identify your child’s strengths and difficulties, and select the most effective goals for therapy.
In most cases, an assessment is completed over two appointments. The types of assessment used may involve any combination of formal testing (such as standardised assessment), screening assessment, observational assessment, play and interaction with your child, and parent/teacher interviews or questionnaires. In the second appointment, your Speech Pathologist may also trial some therapy activities. This will help them to observe how your child responds to treatment and select the best goals for your child’s treatment block.
Once the assessment is complete, your Speech Pathologists will meet with you for a parent-only assessment feedback and treatment planning session. This may be completed over telehealth, or as a parent meeting at our clinic. You will be provided with a clear understanding of the results and diagnosis. Your Speech Pathologist will work with you to develop goals for the treatment block that reflect the long-term outcomes that you wish to achieve for your child. A written treatment plan will be sent to you after your parent meeting.
Learn and Grow does not include assessment reports in all initial assessment fees. Assessment reports are provided for an additional cost and may be recommended for children who are identified as having difficulties in their communication and/or feeding development.
